The new Safar moon may be sighted today (Friday), according to astronomical parameters. Therefore, the first of Safar, 1434 AH will fall on Saturday. The moon crossed the conjunction line yesterday (Thursday) at 1342 Pakistan Standard Time (PST). The sunset today will be at 1745 PST, and the evening civil twilight (ECTL) will be at 1810 PST. The moon will set at 1903 PST.

Thus the age of the new moon will be 28 hours and 28 minutes at ECTL. It will set 78 minutes after sunset and 53 minutes after ECTL. At ECTL the moon will be at an altitude of nine degrees and 37 minutes. It will be at an azimuth of 242 degrees and 41 minutes. At sunset the moon will be at an altitude of 14 degrees and 15 minutes. It will be at an azimuth of 239 degrees and 32 minutes. Therefore, according to astronomical parameters, there is a good chance of sighting the new Safar moon, 1434 AH, today.
